{ A Library Shower :: The Beginning Of A New Chapter }

Baby Shower's are so fun!  This weekend I had the pleasure of helping out my friend Melissa throw a baby shower for our dear friend Stephanie from church.  We. Love. Stephanie.  And what's more important is that we love baby Addison that is on her way in just 8 short weeks (maybe less)!  Eeek!

Melissa came up with the entire theme of the party, the incredible brunch menu (I'll let all the pictures do the talking on that one), and hosted it at her beautiful home.  I got to make/bring a few cute things too like the fruit cups, ribbon topiary centerpieces, and "Thank You" favors.  I think everything turned out so cute!

What a fabulous shower!  Baby Addison was spoiled rotten (as she should be!) and we girls definitely got our fill of delicious food, fun friends, and our dear friend Stephanie!  Can't wait for the little babe to get here!

{ DIY :: Paint Dipped Wooden Spoons }

Lately I've been feeling quite crafty while my little one naps. Probably because it's way more fun making little crafts than cleaning up little messes. My last project was a quick one that I decided to do as part of a friend's wedding present. I just love how they turned out. Such a cute, affordable gift that took me no more than 10 minutes!

SUPPLIES:
- wooden spoons
- painter's tape
- craft paint
- food safe varnish

DIRECTIONS:
Clean your spoons with soap and water.  Tape off a straight line near the top of the handle.  Paint spoon handles desired colors.  Allow paint to dry before finishing with a food safe varnish.

{ RECIPE: Summer Berry Pizza }

If you're looking for a really fantastic summer dessert recipe, look no further!  After seeing a similar recipe posted on Pinterest, I decided to come up with my own version of this delectable treat!  My husband is obsessed with fresh fruit and I have a serious sweet tooth, so this dessert was the perfect blend.  And my favorite part about this recipe? It makes TWO!  One to share and one to keep all to yourself!!

INGREDIENTS:
1 tablespoon honey
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
6 tablespoons Nutella
3 cups mixed berries
1 white chocolate bar grated
mint sprigs

DIRECTIONS:
In a large bowl, mix honey in warm water. Sprinkle yeast over the top, and let stand for about 10 minutes, until foamy.

Stir the olive oil and salt into the yeast mixture, then mix in the whole wheat flour and 1 cup of the all-purpose flour until dough starts to come together. Tip dough out onto a surface floured with the remaining all-purpose flour, and knead until all of the flour has been absorbed, and the ball of dough becomes smooth, about 10 minutes. Place dough in an oiled bowl, and turn to coat the surface. Cover loosely with a towel, and let stand in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour. When the dough is doubled, tip the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and divide into 2 pieces for 2 thin crusts. Form into a tight ball. Let rise for about 45 minutes, until doubled.

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Roll a ball of dough with a rolling pin.  When the circle has reached the desired size, place on a well oiled pizza pan. Spread the base with the nutella. Add the mixed berries and sprinkle with the grated white chocolate. Bake for 14-18 minutes (depending on thickness) in the preheated oven, until the crust is golden. Decorate with mint sprigs.

{ Dear Blair :: 5 Months Old }

So get this. I have been waiting [what seems like] FOREVER for my sweet little Blair to figure out how to roll over! We've been doing lots of tummy time, putting toys just out of reach, and pretty much doing everything we can to get our little munchkin to master this skill. But for the last few weeks it's been a no-go. Until...today! Like literally just a couple hours ago she rolled over for the first time! Our chubby little rolly polly is a rollin now! Well, at least she did it once. I was the only one home and the husband doesn't believe it so I'll have to try and get it on video or something to prove it really did, indeed, happen!

Anyway, it's been a big month for us over here. Blair has been growing leaps and bounds, both physically and mentally, and we're loving it! Her hand eye coordination is amazing, her communication skills are getting better, and her giggling is out-of-control cute! NO one can make her laugh like daddy can! Melts me every time! Here's a look at the rest of the skills and tricks she's been mastering over the last month...

  • Your biggest accomplishment this month was finding your feet!  You love grabbing them and looking at them, rocking back and forth with them, and even putting them in your mouth.  It's definitely made changing your diaper quite difficult, but I know it will only get harder from here.
  • I'm pretty sure you think bath time is the best simply because you get to suck all the water off your fingers and toes.  After we get you out of the tub you usually let out a big 'ole belch from all the bath water you swallowed.  Silly kid!
  • You're eating solids now!  You tried rice cereal towards the beginning of the month and about a week ago you tried peaches, butternut squash, avocado, and mango.  Of course the mango was your favorite!  Mine too, Blair!
  • You think everything belongs in your mouth!  Mama's necklaces, mama's phone, mama's watch.  Ok, you get the picture.
  • You are super sensitive.  One minute you are perfectly happy and the next you are in hysterics because someone looked at you wrong - and then 2 seconds later you're back to your happy self again.  Bi-polar?  Kidding!
  • Being sensitive makes it hard to leave you with your Grandma or Mimi when we go on dates.  You never seem to chill out.  Hopefully it's just a phase.
  •  Most of the clothes you are wearing are 6 and 9 months now.  Although, you're already wearing some 12 month stuff from Old Navy too.  I'm praying it's because their clothes run small, not because you run big!
  • Your hair started to come in today. Yah, TODAY!  Even daddy noticed!  We're still not sure what color it is...maybe a honey brown? Dirty blonde?  We shall see.
  • You have a bedtime now.  You usually like to go to bed around 9:00pm.  I say usually because sometimes you run the show and decide you wanna go to bed at 8:30 and other nights it's not til 9:30.  But you're still young and we don't really care what time you go to bed, so long as you get the rest your growing body needs.
  • Speaking of sleeping, you take 2-3 naps a day.  One in the morning around 10:00am and another around 2:00pm, give or take.  If we're out running around though and you have a busy day, you usually take another right around 6:00.  And sometimes those naps are 20 minutes, sometimes they're 2 hours.  We pray for the 2 hour ones!
  • You still despise your carseat.  Even though mommy bought you a fun toy to play with that attaches to the top (it's eased the pain a little.)   But at least you'll always fall asleep on the freeway when we go to Mimi's house at the beach.
  • Happily, you are still nursing.  Although lately you have been taking an extra bottle a day (growth spurt!) and you always like your milk in a bottle at bed time.  I love it too because usually daddy can feed it to you and mommy can just snuggle up to the both of you on the couch and relax.
  • We love you and this fun stage you're in right now.  Big enough to play with us, but not too big to run away from us!  But we know...today you're 5 months old...tomorrow you'll be 5 years old!
